Lauren Gabel is currently the Advocacy Specialist at the American Society for Microbiology, where she helps scientists and health care professionals engage with lawmakers to better inform science policy and represent the microbial sciences before elected officials. Lauren believes that everyone can and should be involved in advocacy. She has built her career on encouraging others to pay attention and stand up for what matters to them. Prior to her tenure at ASM, Lauren was the campaign manager for a State House of Representatives race in Iowa, and she also worked for the National Treasury Employees Union. Lauren holds a Masters of Science Administration in Public Administration from Central Michigan University, a Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry and a Bachelors of Arts in French from Iowa State University.
